PW's Real Brides - Nichole
Nichole grew up knowing Jason’s Aunt Karen. Karen and Nichole’s Mom started working together when Nichole was about 10, and they became very close friends. So Nichole actually has grown up being around Jason’s family some, however she didn't remember meeting Jason. Of course Nichole was around Karen's family mostly when Nichole was in high school, and with Jason being a couple of years younger she would never have even looked at him!! Older boys were much more interesting!
Anyway, for about a year before Jason and Nichole met, Karen and Nichole’s Mom started in on trying to get Jason and Nichole to meet. Neither one of them wanted anything to do with being "hooked up" by their family! Well they kept on until one day Jason had heard enough. He got Nichole’s phone number, and out of the blue one night he called her.
Nichole is not much of a phone talker like most girls, but they ended up talking for an hour and a half! They agreed to meet that weekend. Nichole told Jason that they could do something Saturday afternoon (She wasn't going to waste her Saturday night on someone she didn't even know!) He was going to take her out to lunch, but she told him "let's just go for a ride in your jeep for a little while, that way if we don't particularly care for each other, we don't have some awkward lunch to get through, and you haven't wasted your money!"(Awww the benefits of being older! You just cut through the bull and get to the point!) Well, Nichole met Jason about 1 pm that afternoon, went home about 10pm that night! The rest, as they say, is history! Nichole did talk to one of her best friends, Tina, on the phone before she met him. She told her, begrudgingly, that she was going to meet a guy her Mom was setting her up with, and if he wasn't cute she thought they could at least be friends because he seemed pretty cool on the phone! Tina was one of her bridesmaids!
How Jason proposed... It was Nichole’s and Jason’s 1st year anniversary, so they took the boat out on Blackwater River and parked at a favorite sandbar. They layed out and played in the water all day. When it was getting a little later in the day and people started leaving, they were by themselves. Jason pulled out two wine glasses and a bottle of their favorite wine. They toasted their relationship, and he started telling her how much she meant to him. Well she was thinking he's being sentimental because they had been dating a year. Then he got down on one knee, or maybe he just sat down in the sand. What she does remember is that he pulled a box out of nowhere and presented her with her engagement ring and asked her to be his wife. Nichole started to cry. She said yes. She wondered where he had kept that ring all day! She knew in her heart they would be married someday, but she had no idea he was going to ask her. They had not talked about getting married at all. The wine by the way is a chocolate orange port their friends made. They shared it on their first Valentine's Day together and loved it! They learned how to make it, and gave small bottles as a token of thanks to all who attended the wedding! "We shared our love with everyone who came to share their love with us on our day"!
